The 3nd Annual Fall Atomic Model Fashion Show
On Wednesday September 25 in Theatre
The first group project of the year is an unprecedented one - you will be tasked with being to design and build an outfit that best represents the atomic structure of ELEMENTS 5- 20 (Boron- Calcium). No group should copy another group within the same period. If there is an element you wish to request, confirm with me to see if it is suitable. Groups will be decided based on the following method: Students will get to choose 1 other partner of their preference. There are three components to this project that will be assessed: the design of an atomic outfit, the Outfit itself (it must be able to worn) as well as the Narration as the Model walks down the "Catwalk". The instructions and rubrics are below in the button "Instructions". The Fashion Show will be on Wednesday September 25 during our regularly scheduled periods. Mr. Pearce's class will also be participating in their second appearance in the show.

2nd Semester Project
"Water Quality Analysis of Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake"-Toxins Lab Report
Year-Long Science Fair Project
The Third Annual TCHS STEM Fair sponsored by NHS and CSF (April)
(Science Fair is on Monday, April 20 AFTER SCHOOL)
The course has a year-long project that explores the scientific method at an intensive level - the Science Fair. Students develop their own research question, hypothesize, conduct the experiments, report results, and discuss findings. General Chemistry will allow students to be interdisciplinary, but the emphasis of topics should be a majority relevant to chemistry. You will also have the ability to partner with a student of Mr. Pearce's class whose in the same regularly scheduled period for chemistry.
The Lab "Final" (1st Semester): In the first semester, students will discuss a project likable and relatable to their interests, research background information about the topic, and explore a problem that the topic may provide. In December, students will attempt to reproduce an experiment of their choosing and instructor's approval based on a pre-determined research question and proposed hypothesis. It is during the Finals schedule that they will need to write a brief summary of their results and discuss the significance of their findings in-class (this final will not be a formal lab report).
The Spring Science Fair (2nd Semester): For ALL Students, you will have a choice to continue expanding your Fall Semester lab final into a comprehensive Science Fair project to be judged in April OR you may elect to change topics/research questions and conduct a new experiment. The final product will consist of a Formal Lab Report and TriFold Presentation at an after-school Science Fair at TCHS.
